RE-FLAGGING
"Growing up sailing in the LBIYRA interclub series, I have acquired a multitude of flags throughout my years in juniors as I am sure many of you have as well. Because these flags are made of synthetic materials, and are mostly plastic based, I did not want to simply throw them out so they ended up in a landfill for years and years.  That is why I asked LBIYRA if I could donate back some of my flags that I earned throughout the years so that they can recycle them and hopefully over time they will not need to produce as many flags for the future years. This will not only help decrease our environmental impact, but it is a nice way to feel connected with the future generations of junior sailors who will fall in love with the sport on the waters of LBI as I did years ago. There will be bins at each of the interclubs for older sailors or siblings of older sailors to donate gently used flags back for reuse. We need to do all that we can to protect this little island we love, and this is something small that you can do to make a difference."  -Blythe Dewling
